“Thanks again‭, ‬for this great opportunity‭, ‬it means so much to our group‭. ‬Everyone in is painting like mad‭, ‬it has given us all such a confidence boost‭!  ‬

We had a very busy Saturday at the gallery‭, ‬lots of visitors and quite a few sales‭! ‬We would be delighted for you to share our wonderful experience‭. ‬

It would be exciting if this could be rolled out across the country‭, ‬with your help and through generous landlords‭, ‬of course‭.‬”‭ ‬

“Many of the artists involved have said how they have benefitted from conversing with the public‭, ‬and selling pictures‭, ‬which just makes them‭, ‬and myself‭, ‬want to do more‭!‬

All round it has been wonderful‭, ‬and we only hope this can continue for a few more months‭.‬”‭ ‬

New pop-up art gallery opening‭ in Castleford

CAS‭, ‬standing for Castleford Art Space‭, ‬is a collection of over 10‭ ‬local artists who have come together to display their work in‭ ‬a previously empty retail unit in Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre‭.‬

The group was founded by Dawn Blatherwick and Emma Davies who were contacted by the‭ ‬‘Artist Window’‭ ‬Charity just before Christmas to undertake the ambitious task to fill the huge retail unit‭ (‬formally used by Argos‭) ‬as a temporary open gallery space in a matter of weeks‭. ‬

“It all happened very quickly‭, ‬from our first phone call with The Artist’s Window to moving in was less than 2‭ ‬weeks‭.‬”‭ (‬Dawn Blatherwick‭)‬

on our opening day!”

"The window advertised my Artists Open House which was a few weeks after the window was installed. I had three visitors to my open house who specifically said they saw the paintings hanging at the shop and made sure to come and see me. One of them bought one of my larger panel paintings which is similar in style to the ones I hung there. Didn't keep track of what the other two visitors bought. I'm very happy with the results! Would love to do it again! Of course, it also raised my profile in general."

"I received around 15 more insta followers and sold a piece at York Open Studios as a direct result of a couple seeing my work in the window and then coming to the event. They travelled from Rotherham to York just to buy the painting."

"It was a great opportunity for me to be offered free exhibition space in our local high street. The setup process was easy and quick, and I was able to showcase my artwork without any cost for several weeks. A lovely initiative, only positive things to say about it.

"I have really appreciated the opportunity to display my work locally and for free, as it is important for artists to have exhibition spaces without high gallery commission fees. I have enjoyed passing through the shopping centre and seeing people stop at my window to look at my work, and have been happy to hear positive comments. I am delighted to have sold some prints of my paintings and received a couple of commissions as a result of this showcase. It is lovely to see people engaging with my work, and I have had ongoing enquiries by email and on my art social media pages. It has definitely been a lovely and worthwhile experience for me! I feel like I have had very good support from and communication with The Artist's Window, and the management team at the Clyde Shopping Centre."

Spalding’s abstract artist Joey Lowe launches new exhibition in empty shop at Boston’s Pescod Square Shopping Centre

If you happened to have been to Pescod Square Shopping Centre in Boston over the past few days you may have noticed something new in one of the empty shop windows‭.‬

Spalding’s abstract artist Joey Lowe has put together an exhibition to be displayed for six weeks in the unused building opposite Select‭ ‬and he is now encouraging other areas to do the same‭ ‬‮–‬‭ ‬saying its the perfect way to brighten up the empty units on all of our high streets‭. ‬

His exhibition is part of a nationwide scheme by an organisation called The Artist’s Window‭, ‬which focuses on easing the financial pressures faced by artists and landlords during the cost of living crisis‭ ‬‮–‬‭ ‬with‭ ‬a showcase for the former and a deterrent for the latter‭. ‬

"Paxton+Glew were delighted to exhibit with The Artist’s Window. Our window coincided with Christmas shoppers and we feel it certainly enhanced the local area. Our artists were thrilled to exhibit in a central location with great footfall. The window increased footfall to our gallery and we made sales from the work exhibited. We would be keen to show again with The Artist Window and provide an even more interesting display!"

Clydebank man on transforming‭ his life through art

A Clydebank man has told of how he transformed his life from partying most weekends to pursuing his dream career in art‭.‬

Stevie‭, ‬who works part-time in retail‭, ‬currently has a variety of his oil paintings on display in the window of Bright House at‭ ‬Clyde Shopping Centre‭.  ‬

‭ ‬“I saw a poster in the shopping centre about something called‭ ‬‘Artist’s Window’‭. ‬It basically allows artists to display their work for an eight week period in old retail shops that have been empty for a while‭.‬

“It brings them to life and brightens up the space‭. ‬Having my art on display in my home town is a real buzz‭.‬
